Wood Stone Gives Back to Green Plate Special

Green Plate SpecialWhen Chef Laura Dewell left her position as Residential Coordinator at Wood Stone Home, we were all sad, yet excited to watch as she pursued her dream of bringing a Garden-to-Table educational non-profit program to Seattle’s middle school youth. Just beginning their fourth year, Green Plate Special now has a permanent home in the Rainier Valley district, complete with beautiful raised garden beds, worm and compost bins, greenhouse, storage shed, harvest sink, prep and outdoor dining area as well as, you guessed it, a beautiful new Wood Stone Mt. Adams wood-burning oven

As Wood Stone president Kurt Eickmeyer put it after he recently visited GPS for their Garden Gala, “I am so proud of Laura! She has used her energy and vision to create a truly remarkable program which is changing lives for kids in Seattle.  Wood Stone was more than happy to provide an oven for this great project.”

Below is a video which gives some additional insight into what Green Plate Special does. View it and feel free to learn more at http://greenplatespecial.org/

Their first pizza!

New Wood Stone Home Oven owners just sent us this photo of the very first pizza being baked in their gorgeous new Bistro Home oven – the focal point of their recently completed BBQ area. How cute is this?…

A Wood Stone Home Oven for Bobby Flay

Bobby Flay with his Wood Stone Home Oven

When we got the call that Bobby Flay wanted a Wood Stone for his home – we obviously couldn’t say yes fast enough!  Bobby installed a Mt. Adams Home Oven outdoors that is configured to burn gas and wood.  This gorgeous flat-wall facade was achieved with brick and both our doorway facade extension flat and our storage box extension flat. We are, without a doubt, very excited to see the backyard culinary magic Chef Flay can create with his new Wood Stone Home oven!

Wood Stone at Fixtures Living’s lastest venture…

Chef Ann was thrilled to attend an opening reception for Fixtures Living‘s latest venture in Southern California: a new, groundbreaking showroom prototype in Costa Mesa located within the South Coast Collection. This 20,000 square-foot kitchen, bath and outdoor living store encourages customers to focus on lifestyle and to “find their joy”. It was certainly a joy to see two Wood Stone ovens so beautifully showcased in both indoor and outdoor vignettes!

A breathtaking Wood Stone Home installation

This past week, the Wood Stone marketing team and two of our Wood Stone chefs got the incredible opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful Wood Stone Home installations (Mt. Chuckanut 4″) we’ve seen. Not only were we able to photograph the gorgeous oven, but we were also able to capture some stunning shots of some of our most popular pizzas for our new website’s recipe section. To be honest, we didn’t know what was more decadent, the house or the pizza!

Thanks again to the family who opened their home and were so warm and welcoming. We appreciate your willingness to share your space with us for the day!

P.S. How cute is Mack? He was a BIG FAN of the Wood Stone pizza.  🙂

First Favas of Spring & a Mobile Hearth, Chef Rachell Boucher

At a recent Standards of Excellence event in California, Chef Ann Rudorf “wow’d” the crowd (which included Chef Rachell Boucher) with her Pizza with Minted Fava Beans & Pecorino Romano. Rachell was kind enough to share her thoughts on both Ann’s amazing pizza recipe and our Wood Stone Residential Ovens on her blog post, Drawn to the Kitchen, Mobile Hearth and via a video interview with Ann you can check out below. Thanks for sharing, Rachell!
